GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT CERTAIN 1995 VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED WITH THE LIFTER RETAINER BOLTS HAVING LOW/ZERO TORQUE APPLIED TO THEM. THE BOLTS MAY CONTINUE TO LOOSEN AND BECOME LODGED OR MAKE CONTACT WITH OTHER ENGINE PARTS AND/OR ALLOW THE LIFTERS TO ROTATE IN THEIR BORES CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FACE OF THE CAM AND/OR LIFTER(S).
TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, DEALERS ARE TO TIGHTEN BOTH OF THE LIFTER RETAINER BOLTS TO 11 NM (97 LBS. IN.). IF BOLT(S) LOOSENED ENOUGH TO CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE, DEALERS ARE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.

BULLETINS ARE INTENDED FOR USE BY PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIANS, NOT A "DO-IT-YOURSELFER". THEY ARE WRITTEN TO INFORM THESE TECHNICIANS OF CONDITIONS THAT MAY OCCUR ON SOME VEHICLES, OR TO PROVIDE INFORMATION THAT COULD ASSIST IN THE PROPER SERVICE OF A VEHICLE. PROPERLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS HAVE THE TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, AND KNOW-HOW TO DO A JOB PROPERLY AND SAFELY. IF A CONDITION IS DESCRIBED, DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE BULLETIN APPLIES TO YOUR VEHICLE, OR THAT YOUR VEHICLE WILL HAVE THAT CONDITION.
