Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the regulator.
  5. Remove the fuel return pipe clamp.
  6. Remove the fuel return pipe and the O-ring from the regulator (discard O-ring).
  7. Remove the pressure regulator bracket attaching screw (7).
  8. Remove the pressure regulator assembly (5) and O-ring (9) (discard O-ring).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 18773 Size: SH
  1. Lubricate new pressure regulator O-ring with clean engine oil, then install on pressure regulator.
  2. Install the pressure regulator (6) assembly onto manifold.
  3. Install the pressure regulator bracket attaching screw (7) coated with appropriate thread-locking material. Refer to Thread Locking Material.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the pressure regulator bracket attaching screw to 3.5N·m (31 lb in).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the fuel return pipe clamp attaching nut (8) to lower manifold assembly.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the fuel return pipe attaching nut 30N·m (22 lb in).

  7. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
  9. Inspect for leaks.
  10. • Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
    • Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
    • Turn the ignition switch ON.
    • Check for fuel leaks.
