HATCH WINDOW ASSIST RODS ASSIST ROD SPECIFICATIONS

Model and Year: 1984 CORVETTE

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

During the 1984 model year, a change was made to the length of the rear hatch window assist rods on 1984 Corvettes. The early style rods were 935mm (36 13/16") long and the later style rods are 853mm (33 5/8") long.

The short version assist rod is the only part available through the G.M. Warehousing Division.

If replacement of a rear hatch window assist rod becomes necessary, then technician should measure the rod length to determine which style is on the vehicle. If the vehicle is equipped with the longer version, and none assist rod requires replacement, BOTH rods must be replaced.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
