CONSOLE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE SHOP MANUAL ADDITION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 Corvette -------------

The procedure for console replacement was not included in the 1985 Corvette Shop Manual (ST-364-85), Section 8C. When console replacement becomes necessary, the following procedure should be used.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove driver's seat assembly. (Refer to Body Section of Shop Manual).

3. Remove screws at instrument panel centre for trim plate removal.

4. Remove console trim plate including all screws, shift knob,lights and switches.

5. Remove glove box hinge and cover.

6. Remove driver side seat belt buckle.

7. Remove glove box liner (felt pad).

8. Remove console side trim screws and pull gently to side.

9. Remove console by carefully pulling side trim aside and working console out from under other side.

10. Reverse removal procedure to install.
