VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 Corvette
The Intake Manifold Removal and Installation procedures called out in Section 6A1, Page 6A1-4 of the 1985 Corvette Shop Manual (ST-364-85) have been revised as shown below. Please make a note of this in your copy of the Shop Manual.
INTAKE MANIFOLD
Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Disconnect accelerator, throttle valve and cruise control cables.
4. Remove air intake duct.
5. Disconnect coolant hoses at throttle body.
6. Disconnect wires at throttle body.
7. Disconnect vacuum and breather hoses at throttle body.
8. Remove throttle body from plenum.
9. Remove distributor shield.
10. Disconnect brake vacuum pipe at plenum.
11. Disconnect vacuum hoses at plenum.
12. Remove runner-to-plenum bolts, loosen right runner-to-manifold bolts, and remove plenum.
13. Relieve fuel pressure.
14. Disconnect fuel lines at fuel rail.
15. Disconnect fuel line bracket at intake.
16. Disconnect cold start injector line at fuel rail.
17. Disconnect vacuum hoses at EGR and pressure regulator control valve.
18 Remove plastic covers over right and left injector harness.
19. Disconnect wires at injectors.
20. Disconnect PCV pipe at valve cover.
21. Remove breather tube.
22. Remove cold start injector.
23. Remove fuel rail bolts.
24. Remove right runner.
25. Remove left runner.
26. Remove fuel rail.
27. Remove distributor cap.
28. Mark distributor position and remove.
29. Disconnect wires at EGR solenoid.
30. Disconnect wires at coolant sensor and cold start injector and sensor.
31. Disconnect ground wire at thermostat outlet.
32. Disconnect radiator hose at thermostat outlet.
33. Remove intake manifold and gasket.
Installation
1. Clean gasket surfaces on intake manifold and manifold contacting surfaces.
2. Install intake manifold and gasket.
3. Connect radiator hose at thermostat outlet.
4. Connect ground wire at thermostat outlet.
5. Connect wires at coolant sensor and cold start injector sensor.
6. Connect wires at EGR solenoid.
7. Install distributor.
8. Install distributor cap.
9. Install fuel rail.
10. Clear left runnner gasket surfaces and install runner with gasket.
11. Clean right runner gasket surfaces and install runner with gasket.
12. Install fuel rail bolts.
13. Install cold start injector.
14. Install breather tube.
15. Connect PCV pipe at valve cover.
16. Connect wires at injectors.
17. Install plastic covers over right and left injector harness.
l8. Cornnect vacuum hoses at ECR and pressure regulator control valve.
19. Connect cold start injector line at fuel rail.
20. Connect fuel line bracket at intake.
21. connect fuel lines at fuel rail.
22. Install plenum, tighten right runner-to-manifold bolts, and install runner-to-plenum bolts.
23. Connect vacuum hoses at plenum.
24. Connect brake vacuum pipe at plenum.
25. Install distributor shield.
26. Install throttle body to plenwn.
27. Connect vacuum and breather hoses at throttle body.
28. Connect wires at throttle body.
29. Connect coolant hoses at throttle body.
30. Install air intake duct.
31. Connect accelerator, throttle valve and cruise control cables.
32. Refill cooling system.
33. Connect negative battery cable.
