CONDITION: The power antenna remains in the up position after the radio or the ignition power has been turned off.
CAUSE: Battery power to the radio has been removed and then restored with the ignition switch in the on position. (Jump starting the vehicle may also cause this condition).
. REPAIR: 1. Switch the radio receiver off. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the off position. 3. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. 4. Reconnect the negative battery cable. 5. Check the power antenna for proper operation.
If the antenna still does not work properly, refer to the service manual, Section 9, for further diagnostics.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
