RADIO NOISE EXCHANGE CLUSTER

1989 Y-CAR

Condition:

---------- Customers may comment on radio noise, background static, and/or poor reception on early built 1989 Y cars.

Cause:

------ A change in the instrument cluster for 1989 models may cause radio interference. The cluster was corrected in Production in January of 1989, with VIN K5110911.

Correction:

----------- If normal diagnosis of radio noise does not correct the condition, perform the following steps:

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove instrument cluster from vehicle following Service Manual procedures. Send to the nearest repair center. Be sure to note the specific condition on the repair ticket. The repair centers have been advised of the correction procedure.

3. Reinstall the cluster.

4. Reconnect negative battery cable.
