Due to the complexity of the Corvette's electrical system, dealers should not install or recommend the after- market installation of an additional security system or keyless entry system.
The Corvette is equipped with two security systems, Universal Theft Deterrent (UTD), and the PASS-KEY system. These systems have proven to be effective in deterring thefts. There is no need for an after-market security system. Also, the 1993 Corvette is equipped with Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) which interfaces with the UTD system. These systems are highly integrated and the addition of any after- market components may interfere with the UTD and PASS-Key security systems or the operation of other Corvette electrical systems, causing customer dissatisfaction.
THE INSTALLATION OF AFTER-MARKET SECURITY SYSTEMS AND KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND COULD VOID PORTIONS OF THE VEHICLE WARRANTY.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
