Owners of some 1990 Corvettes painted Competition Yellow may comment that the colour changes shades when exposed to direct sunlight.
The primary pigment used in this colour is photochromatic. This means the colour becomes darker and greener when exposed to sunlight, when removed from sunlight the condition reverses itself within 48 hours.
This condition is normal and no correction should be attempted.
Should it become necessary to make paint repairs to this colour, the vehicle should be removed from the direct sunlight for at least 48 hours before a match is made.
Dupont will provide matching repair colour which may be ordered using the following description:
B9058KK GM Code 53 WA9804 Competition Yellow B/C
Use of other suppliers products should be checked with the manufacturer to ensure pigment formulas are the same.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
