SUBJECT: WARRANTY ADMINISTRATION - REPAIR/EXCHANGE PROCEDURES AND OPTIONS

MODELS: 1989-1996 CORVETTE ZF 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION

***************************************************************** IMPORTANT: GM OF CANADA DEALERS AND IPC DEALERS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO UTILIZE THIS SERVICE BULLETIN. *****************************************************************

REQUESTS FOR A REPAIR OR EXCHANGE TO ZF 6-SPEED TRANSMISSIONS FALL UNDER THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

1) VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY-OWNER HAS TWO OPTIONS: A)-REQUEST AN EXCHANGE TRANSMISSION (GENERALLY SHIPPED BY ZF WITHIN 24 HOURS). B)-REQUEST A REPAIR TO ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION (ALLOW 3-5 WORKING DAYS FROM DATE OF RECEIPT).

2) VEHICLE IS BEYOND WARRANTY PERIOD-OWNER HAS TWO OPTIONS: A)-REPAIR TO TRANSMISSION BY ZF AT THEIR PARTS AND LABOR CHARGES NEGOTIATED BY DEALER BY CALLING ZF AT 847-478-6761. ASK FOR BARBARA HEURING (TIMEFRAME 5-10 WORKING DAYS). B)-PURCHASE OF A REMANUFACTURED ASSEMBLY THROUGH GMSPO (A CORE CHARGE OF $3,000 WILL BE CHARGED TO DEALER IN ADDITION TO COST OF TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. CORE MUST BE RETURNED TO ZF. FULL, PARTIAL, OR NO CREDIT ISSUED BY SPO AFTER CORE INSPECTED BY ZF.

3) TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED-OWNER OR INSURANCE COMPANY HAS TWO OPTIONS: A)-REPAIR OF TRANSMISSION BY ZF AT THEIR RETAIL PARTS AND LABOR CHARGES NEGOTIATED BY DEALER AND/OR INSURANCE CARRIER (TIMEFRAME SAME AS 1B, REFER TO 2A FOR DETAILS). B)-SEE 2B (ABOVE)

4) TRANSMISSION STOLEN OR NOT REPAIRABLE-OWNER HAS ONLY ONE OPTION: -PURCHASE OF A REMANUFACTURED ASSEMBLY THROUGH GMSPO (CORE CHARGE OF $3,000 WILL BE CHARGED IN ADDITION TO COST OF TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY)

REFER TO CORPORATE SERVICE BULLETIN #77-72-04, SECTIONS A-D, FOR SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS. THE FOLLOWING SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS ONLY:

1. A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE SYSTEM CASE MUST BE ESTABLISHED WHEN REQUESTING REPAIR OR EXCHANGE BY ZF OF NORTH AMERICA ON ONLY WARRANTY SITUATIONS. DEALERS CAN PURCHASE A REMAN UNIT FOR NON-WARRANTY REPAIRS DIRECTLY FROM GMSPO OR REQUEST A REPAIR BY ZF WITH NO NEED FOR A TAS CASE.

2. THE REMOVED TRANSMISSION IS TO BE SHIPPED VIA PREPAID FREIGHT TO:

ZF OF NORTH AMERICA 777 HICKORY HILL DRIVE VERNON HILLS,IL 60061

PLEASE COMPLETE THE REPORTING FORM, LEAK DETECTION CHART (IF APPLICABLE) AND USE THE SHIPPING LABEL PROVIDED BY ZF WITH THE EXCHANGE TRANSMISSION.

3. A COPY OF THE SHIPPING INVOICE MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE WARRANTY CLAIM REPAIR ORDER. INVOICE FOR CORE RETURN MUST HAVE VIN AND GEARBOX # INDICATED.

4. A DEALER CHARGEBACK OF $3,750.00 WILL BE ISSUED FOR EACH TRANSMISSION NOT RETURNED UNDER WARRANTY TO ZF WITHIN 30 DAYS FROM DATE OF SHIPMENT. PROMPT RETURN OF TRANSMISSION CORES WILL AVOID UNTIMELY CHARGEBACKS AND ENSURE SUFFICIENT SUPPLY OF CORES FOR THE CORVETTE 6-SPEED REMAN PROGRAM.

5. RETURN THE CORE TRANSMISSION IN THE SAME CONTAINER THAT THE EXCHANGE UNIT WAS RECEIVED IN.

6. WARRANTY CLAIM PROCESSING PROCEDURE - UPON COMPLETION OF REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION, A WARRANTY CLAIM IS TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE MARKETING DIVISION.
