--------- Some owners of 1992 Corvettes with the LT1 (VIN P 5.7L V8) engine may comment of an engine ticking noise that may sound like a piston type noise.
----- Bolts holding the exhaust manifold heat shield to the exhaust manifold may be backing out causing a slight exhaust leak.
---------- Before attempting any repairs, check the torque on the three (3) exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and tighten if necessary. Recommended torque is 8-12 N.m (72-108 lb. in.). If bolt is missing, replace with P/N 11508567.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
