General Motors of Canada Limited has determined that certain 1992 Corvettes may develop an oil leak at the oil filter area.
To correct this condition, dealers are to install washers under the adapter bolts, according to the Service Procedure below.
Involved are all 1992 Corvette model vehicles with 5.7L (LT1) engines up to VIN N5102614 and which do not have an orange dot on the bottom side of the centre console cover (arm rest) near the label.
All affected vehicles have been identified by the VIN listing provided to involved dealers with this bulletin. Any dealer not receiving a listing was not shipped any of the affected vehicles.
Dealers are to perform this campaign on all involved vehicles at no charge to owners, regardless of kilometres traveled, age of vehicle, or ownership, from this time forward.
Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is taken into your new or used vehicle inventory, or it is in your dealership for service, you are to ensure the campaign correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.
Owners of vehicles recently sold from your new vehicle inventory are to be contacted by the dealer, and arrangements made to make the required modification according to instructions contained in this bulletin.
Refer to Section 4 of the Service Policies and Procedures Manual for the detailed procedure on handling Product Campaigns. Dealers are requested to complete the campaign on all transfers as soon as possible.
All owners of record at the time of campaign release are shown on the attached computer listing and have been notified by first class mail from General Motors. The listings provided are for campaign activity only and should not be used for any other purpose.
Parts required to complete this campaign should be ordered through regular channels, as follows:

Credit for the campaign work performed will be paid upon receipt of a properly completed campaign claim card or DCS transmission in accordance with the following:

Time allowance includes 0.1 hour for dealer administrative detail associated with this campaign. Repair Code 2A includes $8.00 for 1 litre of Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil or appropriate substitute. Parts credit will be based on dealer net plus 30% to cover parts handling.
1. Remove oil filter.
2. Remove forward adapter bolt.
3. Add washer (P/N 120393) under bolt head.
4. Reinstall bolt with washer, and tighten but do not torque at this time.
5. Remove rearward adapter bolt.
6. Add washer (P/N 120393) under bolt head.
7. Reinstall bolt with washer, and tighten.
8. Torque both bolts to 14-19 ft. lbs.
9. Install new filter PF51 (P/N 25010908) and tighten 3/4 to 1 full turn after initial seal contact.
10. Add new (synthetic) oil as required.
11. Run engine and check for leaks.
12. If leaks are found, replace gasket and seal.
13. Install Campaign Identification Label.
Clean surface of radiator upper mounting panel and apply a Campaign Identification Label. Make sure the correct campaign number is inserted on the label. This will indicate that the campaign has been completed.
