SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE CONVERTIBLE TOP, WITH A GLASS BACK WINDOW, MAY UNLATCH AT THE NUMBER FIVE BOW.
STRIKER PIN ON THE CONVERTIBLE TOP IS NOT PERPENDICULAR TO THE NUMBER FIVE BOW LATCH ON THE STOWAGE LID.
1. REFER TO THE 1994 SERVICE MANUAL, SECTION 10-9B FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON RAISING AND LOWERING THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. COMPLETELY UNLATCH THE NUMBER FIVE BOW AND NOTE IF THE STRIKER PIN IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE STOWAGE LID AS IT RESTS ON TOP OF THE LID. SEE "LINE OF SIGHT" IN FIGURE 1.
2. USE A LARGE PAIR OF CHANNEL LOCKS OR EQUIVALENT TO BEND THE STRIKER MOUNTING BRACKET SO THAT THE STRIKER PIN IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE NUMBER FIVE BOW LATCH.
3. IF THE STRIKER PIN HAS A "ROUND ARROWHEAD" TIP (SEE FIGURE 1), REPLACE IT WITH P/N 10258675 WHICH HAS A "FLAT ARROWHEAD" TIP.
4. TURN THE STRIKER PIN TO ADJUST IN/OUT POSITION. PROPER IN/OUT POSITION ENSURES THAT THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WILL SEAL AGAINST THE STOWAGE LID WHEN THE NUMBER FIVE BOW IS LATCHED.
5. TURN THE FLAT PORTION OF THE STRIKER PIN "ARROWHEAD" 90 DEGREES TO THE STRIKER WIRE OF THE NUMBER FIVE BOW LATCH.
6. TIGHTEN JAM NUT TO 15 N.M (11 LBS. FT.) ON THE STRIKER PIN. OVER TORQUING WILL DISTORT THE WASHER UNDER THE JAM NUT. SEE FIGURE 1.
7. CHECK STRIKER PIN ALIGNMENT AND ORIENTATION AND LATCH THE NUMBER FIVE BOW.
PARTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE FROM GMSPO ON 2/28/94.
