Removal Procedure

J 38185 Spring Hose Clamp Pliers

    Notice: When adding coolant, use DEX-COOL® coolant. If silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner-at 50 000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  2. Object Number: 13761  Size: SH
  3. Loosen and remove the clamps from the water pump inlet and the radiator surge tank outlet. Remove the outlet hose (2) from the engine.
  4. Loosen and remove the clamps from the heater core outlet and the radiator surge tank inlet. Remove the heater outlet/surge tank hose (1) from the engine.
  5. Loosen and remove the clamps from the heater core inlet and the throttle body outlet. Remove the inlet hose from the engine.
  6. Before reinstalling the hoses, clean the hose fittings.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 13761  Size: SH
  1. Connect the inlet hose and the clamps.
  2. Connect the heater outlet/surge tank hose (1) and the clamps.
  3. Connect the outlet hose (2) and the clamps.
  4. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  5. Start the engine. Check for any coolant leaks.
