Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 11472  Size: SH
  1. Remove the bolt that secures the tube bracket to the right cylinder head.
  2. Remove the oil level indicator and tube from the engine block.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the oil level indicator tube.
  2. Apply a sealant, GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent, around the tube 12.7 mm (0.050 in) below the bead.

  3. Object Number: 11472  Size: SH
  4. Install the oil level tube into the engine. Rotate the tube into position.
  5. Install the nut that secures the tube bracket to the engine block.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the tube bracket nut to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the oil level indicator.
