Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable assembly from the battery
terminal. Refer to
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.

- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.
- Support the vehicle with safety stands.
- Disconnect the backup lamp switch electrical connector.
- Remove the backup lamp switch.
Installation Procedure
- Apply pipe sealant with Teflon™ onto the threads of the
backup lamp switch. Use GM P/N 1052080, or the equivalent.
- Install the backup lamp switch.
Tighten
Tighten the backup lamp switch to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).
- Connect the backup lamp switch electrical connector.
- Remove the safety stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
