Removal Procedure

    Important: Drain the transmission after a short period of operation when the oil is warm. This allows any existing moisture absorbed by the oil to be expelled when the oil is drained.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.
  2. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  3. Clean all the dirt and all the oil from around the fill plug and the oil drain plug.

  4. Object Number: 12091  Size: SH
  5. Remove the oil fill plug.

  6. Object Number: 12090  Size: SH
  7. Remove the oil drain plug.
  8. Catch the oil in a suitable container.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 12090  Size: SH
  1. Install the oil drain plug.
  2. Tighten
    The oil drain plug to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install new transmission fluid. Refer to Sealers and Lubricants .
  4. Fill the transmission to the level of the fill plug.


    Object Number: 12091  Size: SH
  5. Install the oil fill plug.
  6. Tighten
    The plug to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  7. Remove the safety stands.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
