Principal Components

The following are the principal components of the clutch system:

  1. The driving members
  2. • The driving members are attached to the engine assembly.
    • The driving members turn with the engine assembly.
  3. The driven member
  4. • The driven member is attached to the transmission assembly.
    • The driven member turns with the transmission assembly.
  5. The operating members, which include the following components:
  6. • The spring
    • The clutch hydraulic system
    • The linkage, which applies and releases the pressure which holds the driving and driven members in contact with each other.

This clutch system employs a pull-type release mechanism. The primary advantage of this system lies in its ability to maintain a higher pressure plate load, while retaining low pedal effort. This allows the clutch system to accommodate high torque power plants that would normally prove difficult to combine with a push type release mechanism.
