Depressor
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.

- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.
- Support the vehicle with safety stands.
- Remove the upper and lower underbody braces, if equipped. Refer
to Section 10-3.
- Remove the complete exhaust system. Refer to General Exhaust System Replacement
in Engine Exhaust.
- Remove the transmission oil pan bolt below the servo cover.
- Install J 29714-A
on the oil
pan. Install the bolt included with the tool.
- Use the J 29714-A
in order to depress the servo cover and remove the retaining ring..
- Remove the J 29714-A
from the oil pan.
- Remove the cover and seal ring. The seal may stick in the case.
- Remove the servo piston and the bore apply pin assembly.
- Disassemble the 2-4 servo assembly. Inspect the 2-4
servo assembly. Refer to
2-4 Servo Disassemble
.
Installation Procedure

- Install the servo piston and the bore apply pin assembly.
- Install the 2-4 servo seal ring and the servo cover.
- Install the J 29714-A
and
the bolt to the oil pan.
- Depress the 2-4 band servo cover and install the retaining ring.
- Remove J 29714-A
and
the bolt.
- Install the oil pan bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the exhaust system. Refer to General Exhaust System Replacement
in Engine Exhaust.
- Install the upper and lower underbody braces, if equipped. Refer
to Section 10-3.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
