Coolant Heater Dealer Installation

Disassemble Procedure


    Object Number: 65332  Size: SH
  1. Drain the coolant from the engine block into an approved container. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the water jacket core plug out of the plug opening. Do not score the machined surface of the opening.
  3. Thoroughly clean the plug opening.
  4. Remove any burrs, sealing compound, and/or paint.

Assemble Procedure

  1. Apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the O-ring.
  2. Apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the machined surface of the plug opening.
  3. Insert the engine coolant heater into the engine block.
  4. Tighten the engine coolant heater to the engine block.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the engine coolant heater to 40.0 N·m (30 lb ft).

    Important: The cord must not touch engine, hot pipes, manifold or any moving parts.

  6. Push the heater cord connector into the heater.
  7. Use new or approved recycled coolant to replace coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  8. Inspect the area around the engine coolant heater for coolant leaks.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 65332  Size: SH
  1. Drain the coolant from the engine block into an approved container. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the cord from the heater.
  3. Remove the engine coolant heater from the engine block. Take care not to damage surface of opening in engine block.
  4. Clean the opening in the engine block, remove any burrs, sealing compound, or paint.

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the O-ring.
  2. Apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the machined surface of the opening.
  3. Insert the engine coolant heater into the engine block.
  4. Tighten the engine coolant heater to the engine block.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the engine coolant heater to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

    Important: The cord must not touch the engine, hot pipes, manifold or any moving parts.

  6. Push the heater cord connector firmly into the heater.
  7. Use new or approved recycled coolant to replace coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  8. Inspect the area around the engine coolant heater fro coolant leaks.
