Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Remove the front stabilizer bar bolts.
  5. Position the front stabilizer bar downward.

  7. Disconnect the fan motor connectors.
  8. Remove the wiring harness from the fan shrouds.

  9. Object Number: 179299  Size: SH
  10. Remove the fan assembly mounting bolts.
  11. Remove the fan assembly from the shroud.

  13. Remove the fan retaining nut.
  14. Remove the fan from the motor.

  15. Object Number: 179291  Size: SH
  16. Remove the fan motor from the shroud.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 179291  Size: SH
  1. Install the fan motor on the shroud.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fan on the motor.
  4. install the fan retaining nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 5.5 N·m (49 lb in).

  6. Install the fan assembly to the fan shroud.
  7. Install the fan assembly mounting screws.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Connect the fan motor connectors.
  10. Install the wiring harness on the fan shrouds.

  11. Object Number: 179305  Size: SH
  12. Reposition the front stabilizer bar.
  13. Install the front stabilizer bar bolts.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
