Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the IAT sensor connector.
  4. Disconnect the MAF sensor connector.

  5. Object Number: 179304  Size: SH
  6. Remove the fuel regulator purge line from the air intake duct.
  7. Remove the air intake duct/cleaner assembly.
  8. Remove the drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  9. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  11. Remove the radiator inlet and outlet hose clamps from the coolant pump.
  12. Remove the radiator inlet and outlet hoses from the coolant pump.

  13. Object Number: 185256  Size: SH
  14. Remove the heater hose clamps from the coolant pump.
  15. Remove the heater hoses from the coolant pump.

  16. Object Number: 74081  Size: SH
  17. Remove the coolant pump pulley bolts.
  18. Remove the coolant pump pulley.

  19. Object Number: 64023  Size: SH
  20. Remove six water coolant retaining bolts from the engine block.
  21. Remove the coolant pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 63204  Size: SH
  1. Install the new coolant pump gaskets with the tabs up.
  2. Install the coolant pump to the engine block.
  3. Install the coolant pump bolts on the engine block.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the coolant pump bolts to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the coolant pump pulley.
  6. Install the coolant pump pulley bolts.
  7. Tighten

    1. Tighten the coolant pump pulley bolts a first pass evenly to 10 N·m (89N·m lb in).
    2. Tighten the coolant pump pulley bolts a final pass to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the heater hoses on the coolant pump.
  9. Install the heater hose clamps on the coolant pump.

  10. Object Number: 179301  Size: SH
  11. Install the radiator inlet and outlet hoses on the coolant pump.
  12. Install the radiator inlet and outlet radiator hose clamps on the coolant pump.
  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  14. Install the drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  16. Install the air intake duct/cleaner assembly.
  17. Install the fuel regulator purge line to the air intake duct.

  18. Object Number: 74086  Size: SH
  19. Connect the MAF sensor connector.
  20. Connect the IAT sensor connector.
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  23. Start the engine.
  24. Inspect the pump for leaks.
