Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.

Wheel Removal
in Tires and Wheels.
- Disconnect the RTD rear position sensor connector if equipped.
Refer to
Rear Position Sensors
in Real-Time Damping (RTD).
- Remove the upper mounting nut.
- Remove the lower mounting bolt retaining the shock absorber to
the lower control arm.
- Remove the shock absorber fromthe lower control arm and shock
tower.
- Remove the upper insulator retainer and insulator from the shock
absorber.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the RTD rear position sensor connector if equipped. Refer to
Rear Position Sensors
in Real-Time Damping (RTD).
Tighten
• | Tighten the shock absorber lower mounting nut to 145 N·m (107 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the upper mounting bolt to 29.5 N·m (22 lb ft). |
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Wheel Removal
in Tires and Wheels.
