DEFINITION: Brake warning indicator remains illuminated at all times with the ignition switch turned ON, parking brake released, and brake fluid level is normal.

Go to Brake Warning Indicator System Check

1. Turn the Ignition Switch to the ON position.
2. Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Indicator switch connector.

Does the Brake Warning Indicator remain ON?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 6

1. Turn the Ignition Switch to the ON position.
2. Disconnect the Parking Brake switch connector.

Does the Brake Warning Indicator remain ON?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 7

1. Turn the Ignition Switch to the OFF position.
2. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster connector.
3. Using a DMM, measure the resistance between the Instrument Cluster connector terminal B4 and ground.

Is the measured resistance to ground infinite?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 8

Using a DMM, measure the resistance between the Instrument Cluster connector terminal A6 and ground.

Is the measured resistance to ground infinite?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 9

Replace the Brake Fluid Level switch.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Brake Warning Indicator System Check

Replace the Parking Brake switch.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Brake Warning Indicator System Check

Repair the short to ground in CKT 333.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Brake Warning Indicator System Check

Repair the short to ground in CKT 33.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Brake Warning Indicator System Check

Replace the instrument cluster.
