Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 63984  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Remove the guide pin bolts.

  4. Object Number: 171937  Size: SH
  5. Remove the brake caliper housing.

  6. Object Number: 171940  Size: SH
  7. Install a wheel nut to retain the brake rotor.
  8. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and washers.
  9. Discard the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts.
  10. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket from the knuckle.
  11. Clean all the bolt adhesive residue from the brake caliper mounting bracket and the knuckle mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 171940  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket to the steering knuckle.
  2. Install the two NEW brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and washers.
  3. The new brake caliper mounting bracket bolts will come with an adhesive already applied to the threads.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the front brake caliper mounting bracket bolts to 225 N·m (166 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Recheck the torque on both the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts immediately.
  6. Allow the adhesive on the bolts to cure for two hours before moving the vehicle.

  8. Install the brake caliper housing.

  9. Object Number: 63984  Size: SH
  10. Install the caliper guide pin bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the brake caliper guide pin bolts to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).

  12. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts in sequence to 140 N·m (100 lb ft).

  14. Lower the vehicle.
