Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove the passenger seat. Refer to Manual Seat Replacement or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster in Seats.
  4. Remove the park brake lever boot nuts.

  6. Disconnect the parking brake electrical connector.
  7. Disable the parking brake automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .

  8. Object Number: 63998  Size: SH
  9. Remove the parking brake lever bolts.
  10. Reposition the park brake lever.

  12. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the drive sector and park brake lever assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 206194  Size: SH
  1. Connect the front parking brake cable to the drive sector and park brake lever assembly.

  2. Object Number: 63998  Size: SH
  3. Install the parking brake lever bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the parking brake lever bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Connect the parking brake electrical connector.
  6. Enable the parking brake automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .

  7. Object Number: 63996  Size: SH
  8. Install the parking brake lever boot nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the park brake boot nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the passenger seat. Refer to Manual Seat Replacement or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster in Seats.
  11. Install the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument panel, Gauges and Console.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
