DEFINITION: Transmission shfits out of PARK with ignition switch in RUN and brake pedal not depressed.

  1. Disconnect the Brake Transmission Shift Lock Control Solenoid.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  3. Use a DMM to measure for voltage at terminal C of the Solenoid.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10.0-14.0V

  1. Disconnect the PARK/NEUTRAL position switch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  3. Use a DMM to measure the voltage at connector C1 terminal C of the switch.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 3

Use a DMM to measure for continuity between connector C1 terminal C and terminal B of the PARK/NEUTRAL position switch.

Is there continuity?

Use a DMM to measure for continuity between C1 terminal B of the PARK/NEUTRAL position switch and terminal A of the BTSI switch.

Is there continuity?

Go to Step 5

Use a DMM to measure for continuity between terminal A and terminal B of the BTSI switch.

Is there continuity?

Go to Step 7

Replace the Brake Transmission Shift Lock Control Solenoid.
