Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 38185 Spring Hose
Clamp Pliers
- Drain the coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Remove the heater inlet and outlet hose clamps at the heater hose pipes.
- Separate the heater hoses from the heater hose pipes.
- Remove the heater hose pipe mounting bolt.
- Remove the heater hose pipe bracket nut.
- Remove the heater hose pipes from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure

- Install the heater hose pipes into the vehicle.
Tighten
• | Tighten the heater hose pipe mounting bolt to 10 N·m
(89 lb in). |
• | Tighten the heater hose pipe bracket nut to 10 N·m
(89 lb in). |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the inlet and outlet heater hoses onto the heater hose pipes.
- Install the heater inlet and outlet hose clamps at the heater
hose pipes.
- Install the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Refill the coolant system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Coolant.
