HVAC Blower Controls System Check [ADD-ON (C60)]

  1. Start the engine and allow the vehicle to idle in Park.
  2. Turn the HVAC mode control knob to the instrument panel UPPER position.
  3. Depress the A/C button to the ON position.
  4. Turn the temperature control knob to the maximum cold position.
  5. Depress the RECIRC button.
  6. Turn the blower switch to position 3.
  1. Air flows from the instrument panel outlets.
  2. A/C is engaged.
    • A/C Compressor Clutch Does Not Engage.
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-2 (Position 3).
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Incorrect Air Distribution From Air Outlets (Go to C60-Functional Checks).

  1. Depress the A/C button to the OFF position.
  2. Depress the OUTSIDE AIR button.
    • Air flows from the instrument panel outlets.
    • A/C is disengaged.
    • A/C Compressor Clutch Does Not Disengage.
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-2 (Position 3).
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Incorrect Air Distribution From Air Outlets (Go to C60-Functional Checks).

Turn the HVAC mode control knob to the BI-LEVEL position.

    • Air flows from the instrument panel outlets and floor outlets, slight air flow from the defrost outlets.
    • A/C is engaged.
    • A/C Compressor Clutch Does Not Engage.
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-2 (Position 3).
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Incorrect Air Distribution From Air Outlets (Go to C60-Functional Checks).

Turn the HVAC mode control knob to the FLOOR position.

    • Air flows from the floor outlets with slight air flow from the defrost outlets.
    • A/C is disengaged.
    • A/C Compressor Clutch Does Not Disengage.
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-2 (Position 3).
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Incorrect Air Distribution From Air Outlets (Go to C60-Functional Checks).

Turn the HVAC mode control knob to the DEFOG position.

    • Air flows from the floor outlets and from the defrost outlets.
    • A/C is engaged.
    • A/C Compressor Clutch Does Not Engage.
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-2 (Position 3).
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Incorrect Air Distribution From Air Outlets (Go to C60-Functional Checks).

Turn the HVAC mode control knob to the DEFROST position.

    • Air flows from the defrost outlets with slight air flow from the floor outlets.
    • A/C is engaged.
    • A/C Compressor Clutch Does Not Engage.
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-2 (Position 3).
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Incorrect Air Distribution From Air Outlets (Go to C60-Functional Checks).

  1. Turn the HVAC mode control knob to the instrument panel UPPER position.
  2. Turn the blower switch to the low position.
  3. Turn the temperature control knob to the maximum hot position.

The sound of the temperature door motor rotating the air control valve and allowing warm air to flow from the VENT outlets.

    • Blower Motor Low Speed Inoperative (Position 1).
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Incorrect Air Distribution From Air Outlets (Go to C60-Functional Checks).

  1. Turn the temperature control knob to the maximum cold position.
  2. Rotate the blower knob from position 1 to position 5 and then back to position 1.
    • The sound of the temperature door motor rotating the air control valve and allowing cool air to flow from the VENT outlets.
    • The blower motor speeds changes according to the blower switch position.
    • Improper Air Delivery (Air Temperature).
    • Blower Motor Inoperative at Ant Speed.
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-1 (Position 2).
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-2 (Position 3).
    • Blower Motor Inoperative Med-3 (Position 4).
    • Blower Motor High Speed Inoperative (Position 5).
