LO/HI Beam Headlamp Inoperative, One Side

  1. Disconnect the inoperative (low/high) headlamp connector.
  2. Connect a DMM between the headlamp connector terminal E and ground.
  3. Measure the resistance to ground in CKT 150 from terminal E of the headlamp connector.

Is the resistance to ground within the specified values?

0-3ohms

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 3

Repair a poor connection or an open in CKT 150 between the headlamp connector terminal E and:

    • Left Side=G101
    • Right Side=G102

Is the repair completed?

Go to DRL Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect the DMM between the inoperative headlamp connector terminal:
  2. • Low Beam=terminal C
    • High Beam=terminal D
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to the ON position (headlamps ON).
  4. Position the headlamp dimmer switch to either high or low beam depending on which headlamp circuit is being tested.
  5. Measure the voltage at the headlamp connector.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Replace the inoperative headlamp bulb.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the fuse at the underhood electrical center relative to the headlamp circuit being tested.

    • LF Low Beam=HDLOBML Minifuse® #10
    • LF High Beam=HDHIBML Minifuse® #12
    • RF Low Beam=HDLOBMR Minifuse® #8
    • RF High Beam=HDHIBMR Minifuse® #9

Is the related fuse open?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

Repair the short to ground in the circuit relative to the inoperative headlamp.

    • LF Low Beam=CKT 712
    • LF High Beam=CKT 711
    • RF Low Beam=CKT 312
    • RF High Beam=CKT 311

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to DRL Diagnostic System Check

  1. Remove the fuse relative to the inoperative (low/high) headlamp.
  2. Connect a DMM between the underhood electrical center terminal and ground.
  3. Measure the voltage at terminal A.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 9

Repair the open in the circuit relative to the inoperative headlamp.

    • LF Low Beam=CKT 712
    • LF High Beam=CKT 711
    • RF Low Beam=CKT 312
    • RF High Beam=CKT 311

Is the repair complete?

Replace the underhood electrical center.
