Replacement Procedure

J 39637 Wiper Arm Puller


    Object Number: 70095  Size: SH
  1. Raise the hood.
  2. Place a piece of masking tape (5) on the windshield at the tip of each wiper blade assembly (6) to aid reinstallation.
  3. Remove the cover (1) from the wiper arm.
  4. Remove the nut (2) retaining the wiper arm on the wiper transmission (4).
  5. Disconnect the washer hose (3) from the nozzle at the air inlet screen.

  7. Separate the wiper arm from the wiper transmission using tool J 39637.
  8. Lift the wiper arm off of the wiper transmission.
  9. Remove the wiper blade assembly from the wiper arm if required. Refer to Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the wiper blade assembly if removed. Refer to Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement .
  2. Connect the washer hose to nozzle at air inlet screen.
  3. Make sure to route the washer hose under the wiper arm and in front of the wiper pivot.

  4. Align the tip of the wiper blade assembly (6) with the masking tape (5) on the windshield and install the wiper arm onto the wiper transmission (4).
  5. Important: It may be necessary to allow for some movement of a the wiper arm when the wiper arm nut is being tightened. If the wiper arm moves away from the alignment mark, loosen the wiper arm nut and reposition the wiper arm.

  6. Install the nut retaining (2) the wiper arm to wiper transmission (4).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the wiper arm nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the cover (1) onto the wiper arm.
  9. Remove the masking tape (5) from the windshield.
