Windshield Wiper Shuts Off But Blades Do Not Park

DEFINITION: The wipers do not park when the Wiper/Washer Switch is turned OFF.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the wiper switch to the OFF position.
  3. Disconnect connector C209 of the wiper/washer switch.

Do the wipers park?

Go to Step 2

Replace the wiper/washer switch.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Wiper/Washer System Check

Using a DMM, measure the voltage from terminal B of connector C209 and ground.

Is the voltage in the specified range?

1 V or above

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

  1. Reconnect connector C209 of the wiper/washer switch.
  2. Disconnect the wiper connector.
  3. Using a DMM, measure the voltage from terminal D of the wiper motor connector to ground.

Is the voltage in the specified range?

1 V or above

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Replace the wiper motor cover.

Is the repair complete?

Check for a short to B+ in CKT 91.

Is there a short present?

--

Go to Step 7

Repair the short to B+ in CKT 91.
