Windshield Wiper Does Not Shut Off

DEFINITION: The wiper motor continues to run after the wiper switch is turned to the OFF position.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the wiper switch OFF.
  3. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch connector C209.

Does the wiper motor keep running?

Go to Step 5

Check for a short to the wiper/washer switch in CKT 143.

Is there a short present?

--

Go to Step 3

Repair the short to the wiper/washer switch in CKT 143.

Is the repair complete?

--

Replace the wiper/washer switch.

Is the repair complete?

Using a DMM set to the voltage scale, measure the voltage between terminal B of connector C209 and ground.

Is the voltage in the specified range?

1 volt or more

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector C209.
  2. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  3. Using a DMM set to the voltage scale, measure the voltage between terminal D and ground.

Is the voltage in the specified range?

1 volt or more

Go to Step 8

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector C 209.
  2. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  3. Using a DMM set to the voltage scale, measure the voltage between terminal C and ground.

Is there 12 volts present?

Repair the B+ connection to CKT 91.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the wiper motor cover.
