Windshield Wiper Intermittent Mode Inoperative

DEFINITION: The wipers do not delay or delay time is wrong.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the wiper washer switch connector C209.
  3. Set The wiper switch in the DELAY position.
  4. Using a DMM set to the ohms scale, measure the resistance through the wiper/washer switch from terminal C of connector C209 to terminal A.
  5. Move the wiper switch thorough the entire delay range, one notch at a time.

Is the resistance in the specified range?

39-680 Kohms

Replace the wiper/washer switch.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector C209.
  2. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Using a DMM set to the voltage scale, measure the voltage from terminal E of the wiper motor connector to ground.

Is the voltage in the specified range?

10.0-14.0V

Check for a poor connection in CKT 112.

Repair the connector/connection in CKT 112.
