Speaker Replacement Front Door

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement in Doors.

  2. Object Number: 65114  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the electrical/audio connector from the front door radio speaker assembly.

  4. Object Number: 65112  Size: SH

    Important: The speaker assembly is only held in place by retaining screws. Be sure to support the speaker assembly upon removal.

  5. Remove the screws retaining the front door speaker assembly to the door.
  6. Remove the front door speaker assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 65112  Size: SH
  1. Install the front door speaker assembly into position in the door.
  2. Important: The tightening sequence MUST be followed.

  3. Install the front door speaker assembly retaining screws in the following sequence:
  4. 2.1. The uppermost screw
    2.2. The lowermost screw
    2.3. The remaining screws in a criss-cross pattern

    Tighten
    Tighten the front door speaker assembly retaining screws in sequence to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Connect the electrical/audio connector to the front door speaker assembly.
  6. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement in Doors.

Speaker Replacement Rear

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 171880  Size: SH
  1. Open the rear lift window panel.
  2. Using two flat bladed tools, CAREFULLY and simultaneously pry at the upper RH and LH edges of the rear radio speaker grille to release the locking tabs.
  3. Pivot the speaker grille downward to release the lower retaining tab, then remove the grille.
  4. Remove the push-in fastener (in the lower corner of the speaker opening) retaining the rear compartment side trim panel.

  5. Object Number: 65109  Size: SH
  6. Remove the rear speaker retaining screws.
  7. Finesse the rear compartment side trim panel carefully upward, rearward and outward slightly to access the upper speaker retaining screw.

  8. Begin to remove the rear speaker in order to access the electrical/audio connector.
  9. Disconnect the electrical/audio connector from the rear speaker.
  10. Remove the rear speaker.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 65109  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical/audio connector to the rear speaker.
  2. Install the rear speaker into position.
  3. Install the rear speaker retaining screws.
  4. Finesse the rear compartment side trim panel carefully upward, rearward and outward slightly to access the upper speaker retaining screw.

    Tighten
    Tighten the rear speaker retaining screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  5. Install the push-in fastener (in the lower corner of the speaker opening) retaining the rear compartment side trim panel.
  6. Insert the rear speaker grille lower retaining tab into position.
  7. Raise the speaker grille and align the locking tabs.
  8. Carefully push the tabs in to lock.
  9. Close the rear lift window panel.
