Removal Procedure

Notice: Whenever the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) is removed from the vehicle, DO NOT set the IPC on its face for more than 15 minutes or damage to the fluid filled air core gages may result.

If the instrument panel cluster (IPC) that is being removed is to be sent to an authorized Delco Service Center, prior to shipping the unit, refer to Instrument Cluster Service Precautions .

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  3. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to steering column bracket retaining screws.
  4. Lift the rear of the IPC slighty to release the locator tab, then lift the IPC to access the electrical connector.

  6. Disconnect the IPC electrical connector.
  7. Remove the IPC.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 95721  Size: SH
  1. Connect the instrument panel cluster (IPC) electrical connector.

  2. Object Number: 95728  Size: SH
  3. Position the IPC to the steering column bracket.
  4. Check that the IPC retaining tab (1) is positioned correctly to the steering column bracket (2).

  5. Object Number: 95727  Size: SH
  6. Install the IPC to steering column bracket retaining screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the IPC to steering column bracket retaining screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
