Arming the Theft Deterrent System

  1. Close all the vehicle doors.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

The SECURITY indicator turns OFF when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

Go to SECURITY indicator inoperative.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Open the driver door or the passenger door.

The SECURITY indicator flashes for 10 minutes.

Go to SECURITY indicator inoperative.

  1. Open the driver door or the passenger door.
  2. Press the appropriate power LOCK button.

OR

The SECURITY indicator stops flashing and remains ON continuously.

Go to SECURITY indicator inoperative.

Press the LOCK button on the remote transmitter.

The SECURITY indicator stops flashing and remains ON continuously.

Go to Keyless Entry Diagnostic System Check

Close both the driver door and the passenger door.

The SECURITY indicator turns OFF after approximately 10 seconds. The system is now armed.

Go to SECURITY indicator inoperative.

Activating the Theft Deterrent System

Perform any one of the following functions to activate an armed theft deterrent system and to simulate an illegal entry:

    • Use the power lock switch to unlock the driver door or the passenger door.
    • Use the inside lock lever to unlock the driver door or the passenger door.
    • Use the inside hatch release to manually unlock the hatch.
    • Open the hood (export only).

The UTD system activates the following features depending upon selected personalized options to indicate vehicle intrusion:f

    • The horn sounds.
    • The turn signals activate.
    • The fog lamps activate.
    • The backup lamps activate.

Go to Theft Deterrent System Inoperative.

Disarming the Theft Deterrent System

Use the key to UNLOCK the driver door or the passenger door.

The alarm disarms.

Go to Theft Deterrent System Inoperative.

Press the UNLOCK button on the remote transmitter (passive switch OFF).

The alarm disarms.

Go to Keyless Entry Diagnostic System Check

Walk into range with the remote transmitter (passive switch ON).

The alarm disarms.

Go to Keyless Entry Diagnostic System Check

Turn ON the ignition switch with a valid PASS Key® code.

The alarm disarms.

Go to BCM Diagnostic System Check

Press the hatch release button on the remote transmitter.

The alarm disarms.
