Removal Procedure

The electronically operated fuel filler door can be manually opened from inside the rear cargo area by pulling on the manual release cable located behind the left side rear wheelhouse carpet.

  1. Remove the center and the left side rear floor stowage compartment covers.

  2. Object Number: 71198  Size: SH
  3. Remove the rear/end trim left corner carpet panel.
  4. Remove the carpet from the inner wheelhouse.

  5. Object Number: 71227  Size: SH
  6. Open fuel door.
  7. Remove the nut from the fuel door release cable.
  8. Remove the nut securing the actuator.
  9. Disconnect the electrical connection.
  10. Remove the actuator and cable.

  12. Remove the rear wheelhouse liner panel for cable installation access. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Liner Panel .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 71227  Size: SH
  1. Position the actuator.
  2. Install the nut attaching the actuator.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filler door release actuator nut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the cable to the fuel pocket.
  5. Install the nut attaching the fuel filler door release cable to the fuel filler pocket.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filler door release cable nut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Connect the electrical connection.

  9. Install the wheelhouse carpet.
  10. Install the rear/end trim left corner carpet panel.
  11. Install the center and left side rear floor stowage compartment covers.

  12. Object Number: 71250  Size: SH
  13. Install the wheelhouse liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Liner Panel .
