Rear Lift Window Panel Latch Bracket for Chevrolet Corvette 1997
Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment lift window.
- Remove the rear floor side stowage compartment cover.
- Remove the rear/end corner carpet trim panel. Refer to
Rear Corner Trim Panel Carpet Replacement
in Exterior/Interior
Trim.
- Disconnect the actuator electrical connector.
Remove the taillamps (for access to latch bracket nuts).
- Remove the nuts attaching the latch bracket.
- Remove the latch bracket with latch.
- Transfer parts as necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Position the latch with bracket to the rear body panel.
- Install the nuts attaching the latch bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the latch bracket mounting nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the actuator electrical connector.
- Install the rear/end corner carpet trim panel. Refer to
Rear Corner Trim Panel Carpet Replacement
in Exterior/Interior
Trim.
- Install the rear floor side stowage compartment cover.
- Install the taillamps.
Tighten
Tighten the taillamp mounting screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
