Removal Procedure
- Remove the roof panel. Refer to Roof Lift Off Panel Replacement .
- Remove the side weaherstrip. Refer to Roof Lift Off Panel Side Weatherstrip .
- Mark the location of the retainer.
- Remove the screws attaching the retainer.
- Remove the retainer by gently pulling the retainer loose from the roof panel.
- Clean the retainer and the roof panel contact surfaces to remove any old foam sealing tape.
Installation Procedure
- Apply foam sealing tape to a reusable retainer.
- Position the retainer to the marks made before removal.
- Install the forward screw aligning the retainer fore and aft.
- Install the remaining screws.
- Install the side weatherstrip. Refer to Roof Lift Off Panel Side Weatherstrip .
- Install the roof panel. Refer to Roof Lift Off Panel Replacement .
Important: A minimum of 2 mm (0.08 in) of sealing foam tape must extend beyond the edge of the retainer to prevent water leaks.
Important: Stripped, broken, or improperly seated screws must be replaced or repaired to prevent water leaks.
Tighten
Tighten the side weatherstrip retainer screws to 3.4 N·m

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
