Clicking from Door Window
Problem
Clicking from the door window when the window is raised.
Possible Cause
The door window cables are contacting the window.
Correction
- Lower the door window and then raise the window and listen for
a clicking sound as the window nears the full up position.
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
- Loosely tie strap the inner cable to the door inner panel using
the hole behind the lock control rods.
- Make sure the cables are also loosely tie strapped to each other.
- Reinstall the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
Rattle from Door
Problem
Rattle from the door with the window down.
Possible Cause
The door window cables are contacting the window.
Correction
- Close the door with the window down and listen for a rattle.
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
- Loosely tie strap the inner cable to the door inner panel using
the hole behind the lock control rods.
- Make sure the cables are also loosely tie strapped to each other.
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
Rattle from Door
Problem
Rattle from the door with the window down.
Possible Cause
The rear regulator cable grommet is vibrating against the regulator
bracket.
Correction
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
- Tap on the cable and listen for noise.
- Glue the lower grommet to the regulator bracket with Lock Tightâ„¢
or equivalent.
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
Rattle from Door
Problem
Rattle when closing the door with the glass down, or when driving with
the glass down.
Possible Cause
The backing of the outer belt line seal is contacting the door between
the retainers.
Correction
- Close the door and listen for the noise and/or road test the vehicle
with the window down.
- Remove the outer belt line seal. Refer to
Front Side Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement
in Doors.
- Cut three pieces of hook and loop tape and install one piece of
loop tape between each of the three rearward sets of retainers on the seal.
- Reinstall the seal.
Rattle from Door
Problem
Rattle from the passenger door with the passenger seat unoccupied.
Possible Cause
The seat belt is not fully retracted allowing the metal end of the belt
to rattle on the door sill.
Correction
- Road test for the noise and check to see if the seat belt is fully
retracted.
- Instruct the passenger to guide the seat belt into the retractor
when the belt is not in use.
Itch/Creak from Door Trim Panel
Problem
Itch or creak from the door trim panel with your arm on the arm rest.
Possible Cause
The energy absorber is not completely glued to the inside of the door
trim panel. Or the trim panel plastic fir tree clips are worn and are not
gripping tightly.
Correction
- Road test with your arm on the arm rest and listen for the itch/creak.
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
- Hot melt glue the energy absorber completely to the trim panel.
- Replace any worn fir tree fasteners and/or plastic grommets.
- Install the trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
Squeak from Door
Problem
Squeak when opening or closing the door.
Possible Cause
The door hinge roller lacks lubricant.
Correction
- Open and close the door and listen for the squeak.
- Lubricate the hinge roller with motor oil.
