Notice: Polypropylene service parts must be primed with a coating of special polypropylene primer according to the factory recommendations. Failure to use the required primer as directed will result in color coat failure. Use polypropylene Primer GM P/N 10522364 or equivalent.

The system for painting polypropylene parts involves the use of a special primer.

Polypropylene plastic is hard, it can be color coated after prime with a convention interior acrylic lacquer.

  1. Wash the part with a solvent such as Acryli-Clean®, Pre-Kleano®, Prep-Sol®, or an equivalent following the manufacturer's directions for usage.
  2. Apply a thin wet coat of polypropylene primer according to the label directions:
  3. • Observe the gloss reflection of the spray under adequate lighting in order to determine the wetness.
    • Be sure to include all edges.
    • Allow the primer to flash dry while applying the color for best adhesion.

    Specifications
    Flash dry time: 1-10 minutes

  4. During the primer flash time apply conventional interior acrylic lacquer color as required.
  5. Allow the surface to dry before installing the part.
