Removal Procedure
Important: Use hand tools to remove and install the crossmember bolt nuts.
- Raise the
vehicle and suitably support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Using hand tools remove the nut from the crossmember bolt to be
replaced.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the battery heat shield, (if removing the right rear bolt
only).
- Drill out the crossmember
bolt anti rotation device rivet.
- Remove the bolt.
Installation Procedure
Important: Each time a crossmember bolt nut is removed it must be replaced with
a new nut.
Important: Check the new bolt against the old bolt for proper length.
- Install the crossmember bolt.
- Install the crossmember bolt anti rotation device rivet.
- Raise the vehicle and
suitably support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Using hand tools install and tighten a NEW crossmember bolt nut.
Tighten
Tighten the crossmember nut to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the battery heat shield (if removed to replace the right
rear crossmember bolt).
