Important: Isuzu and Medium Duty Truck dealers not franchised with other GM divisions did not receive J 38125 Terminal Repair Kit as an Essential Tool. Isuzu and Medium Duty dealers may purchase the entire repair kit or any individual item from this repair kit and submit for reimbursement as described in this bulletin.

Consumable parts that are supplied with essential tools fall outside the definition of shop supplies. These consumable parts are not readily available from suppliers outside the Kent-Moore distribution network. Some essential tools are comprised mainly of consumable parts and are intended to be reimbursable on a warranty repair order.

The list of essential tools below contains consumable repair parts that are intended to be permanently installed in vehicles. Many of these parts are used to diagnose or repair assemblies and avoid replacement of an entire assembly. These tools allow dealers to reduce repair costs, decrease repair times and increase customer satisfaction.

Many of the repair strategies that utilize consumables greatly reduce the overall repair expense and ensure the integrity of the repair. For example, a thread repair insert can properly repair a stripped head bolt hole and eliminate the need to replace an engine block. Many consumables represent unique technology and have been exhaustively validated by GM engineers.

The cost of these consumable parts should be recovered for both warranty and customer-paid repairs. The Consumables Price list shown below contains the current promotional pricing for the items used with these repair kits. Promotional pricing ends 7/31/06.

To simplify the process of recovering the expense of terminals used from the J 38125 Terminal Repair Kit, GM is standardizing the allowable price of all electrical terminals to $3 US ($4 Canadian). In all cases, this allowance provides the dealer the ability to recover the expense associated with the purchase of and the replenishing of terminals in all the kits. The $3 US ($4 Canadian) allowance per terminal does not receive any additional mark-up and should be submitted in the "Net Item" field of the warranty claim.

For all other consumable parts listed in this bulletin, dealers should claim the actual cost plus a 40% mark up. Dealers should document the repair order with the quantity and the Kent-Moore part number(s) used for each repair. GM part numbers do not exist for most of the consumable parts contained in Kent-Moore supplied repair kits. The amount claimed (cost plus 40%) should be submitted in the "Net Item" field of the warranty claim.

The tools that are used in the installation of consumable parts are not reimbursable under warranty. Consumable parts can be reordered from Kent-Moore by calling 1-800-GM TOOLS.
