Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge
    • J 37088-A Tool Set, Fuel Line Quick Connect Separator

Notice: 

   • Do not repair the fuel feed or return pipes.
   • Replace the fuel feed and return pipes with original equipment or with parts that meet the GM specifications for those parts. The replacement pipe must have the same type of fittings as the original pipe in order to ensure the integrity of the connection.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left fuel rail cover.
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief .

    4. Object Number: 43537 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings at the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  5. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings at the chassis fuel pipes (1 and 2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Remove the fuel feed hose (3) and the fuel return hose (4).
  7. Cap the fuel pipes in order to prevent possible fuel system contamination.
  8. Inspect the hoses for bends, kinks, chafing and cracks. Replace the hoses as required.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 43537 Size: SH
  1. Remove the caps from the fuel pipes.
  2. Connect the fuel feed and return hoses to the chassis fuel pipes (1 and 2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  3. Connect the fuel feed hose (3) and the fuel return hose (4) to the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

    4. Object Number: 43560 Size: SH
  4. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Inspect for leaks.
    7. 6.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
    6.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
    6.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    6.4. Check for fuel leaks.
  7. Install the left fuel rail cover.
  8. Perform the idle learn procedure. Refer to Idle Learn .
