Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Inflate the tire to 275 kPa (40 psi) and dip into a water bath. Check for leaking areas.
  4. Mark the leaking areas.
  5. Mark the tire/wheel at the valve core.
  6. Remove the tire from the wheel. Refer to Tire Mounting and Dismounting .
  7. Scuff the inside rim surface at the leak area with #80 grit paper.
  8. Clean the inside rim surface at leak area with general purpose cleaner such as 3M P/N 08984 or an equivalent.
  9. Apply 1/8 inch thick layer of adhesive/sealant Dow Corning P/N 1052366 or an equivalent to the leaking area.
  10. Allow twelve hours of drying time.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the tire to the wheel. Refer to Tire Mounting and Dismounting .
  2. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Lower the vehicle.
