Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 63984  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the guide pin bolts.

  4. Object Number: 171937  Size: SH
  5. Remove the brake caliper housing and support to the vehicle.

  6. Object Number: 171940  Size: SH
  7. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and washers.
  8. Discard the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts.
  9. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket from the knuckle.
  10. Clean all the bolt adhesive residue from the brake caliper mounting bracket and the knuckle mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket to the knuckle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the two new brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and washers.
  4. The new brake caliper mounting bracket bolts will come with an adhesive already applied to the threads.

    Tighten
    Tighten the front brake caliper mounting bracket bolts to 175 N·m (125 lb ft).

  5. Install the brake caliper housing.

  6. Object Number: 63984  Size: SH
  7. Lubricate and install the caliper guide pin bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the brake caliper guide pin bolts to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).

  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
