Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 1998 🢒 Corvette 🢒 Restraints 🢒 SIR 🢒 Steering Wheel Inflator Module Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.

    2. Object Number: 70113 Size: SH
  2. Remove the two T30 TORX® screws retaining (4) the driver inflator module (3) to the steering wheel.
  3. Remove the inflator module (3) from the steering wheel.
  4. Disconnect the SIR electrical connector (2) from the back of the driver inflator module.
  5. Disconnect the horn wiring harness (6) from the steering column.
  6. Disconnect the ground wire (5) from the steering column.
  7. Remove the driver inflator module (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 70112 Size: SH
  1. Install the inflator module retaining screws (2) through back of steering wheel and into the module prior to installing on the steering wheel.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the inflator module retaining screws to 6 N·m (54 lb in).

  2. Connect the ground wire (7) to the steering column.
  3. Connect the horn wiring harness (6) to the steering column.
  4. Connect the SIR coil electrical connector (2) and (3) to the back of the driver inflator module (4).
  5. Install the inflator module (4) onto the steering wheel by pushing on both the right and left sides of the inflator module (4) until the retaining screws snap into place.
  6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
