Both Lumbar Supports Inoperative (Driver's and Passenger's Seat)

DEFINITION: Both the Driver's and Passenger's side lumbar support are inoperative. Passenger's side seat position motors will also be inoperative but Driver's side seat position motors will operate normally.

Check the LUMBAR MiniFuse® #3.

Is the fuse open?

--

Go to Step 6

Using a DMM, check for voltage at terminal A of the LUMBAR MiniFuse® #3.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 4

Refer to Power Distribution

Carefully inspect the connectors C2 and C3 at the instrument panel electrical center for looseness, corrosion, or damage.

Are these connectors in good operating condition?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Replace the instrument panel electrical center.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the LUMBAR MiniFuse® #3.

Does the LUMBAR MiniFuse® #3 immediately open when installed?

Repair the instrument panel electrical center connectors C2 and C3 as needed.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair a short to ground in CKT 1140.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the RH seat upper motor connectors C1 and C2.
  2. Depress each of the Passenger's seat lumbar switch buttons one at a time.

When any of the Passenger's seat lumbar switch buttons are depressed, does the LUMBAR MiniFuse® #3 open?

Locate and repair a short to ground in:

    • CKT 789 = Lower Lumbar Inflate button.
    • CKT 1261 = Upper Lumbar Inflate button.
    • CKT 1265 = Side Bolster Inflate button.
    • CKT 758 = Side Bolster Deflate button.
    • CKT 1805 = Upper Lumbar Deflate button.
    • CKT 757 = Lower Lumbar Deflate button.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect the RH seat upper motor connectors C1 and C2.
  2. Depress all of the RH lumbar buttons on the RH seat adjuster switch one at a time.

When any of the Passenger's seat lumbar switch buttons are depressed, does the LUMBAR MiniFuse® #3 open?

Visually inspect the RH seat upper motor, air lines and any other components that may affect lumbar operation for damage. If OK, replace the RH seat upper motor.

Is the repair complete?

Visually inspect the LH seat upper motor, air lines and any other components that may affect lumbar operation for damage. If OK, replace the LH seat upper motor.
