Subject:1997-2005 Chevrolet Corvette Low Oil, Low Fuel, or Temperature Indicator Displayed on the Heads Up Display

Models:.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

A customer may state that the Heads Up Display (HUD) will display one of the following symbols: oil can, gas pump, or a temperature symbol. The customer may see one of the following symbols and think that the vehicle is having a concern with oil pressure, low fuel , or a overheat condition even though the IPC is reading normal.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The HUD is only capable of showing one of the three gauges for the symbols shown above. These symbols are shown on the HUD to display what gauge is presently shown on the right side of the HUD. This is normal operation for the HUD and no repairs should be attempted. If there was a actual concern, the HUD would display the Check Gauges Message. Additional information is available under the Heads Up Display section of the owners manual.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
